First Aid for Mental Health

Training to support mental health in the workplace

First Aid for Mental Health is a powerful tool in your wellbeing strategy. By equipping your staff with awareness and first aid skills, you create a positive mental health culture and are better able to support your employees when they need it most

Why do you need First Aid for Mental Health?

Poor mental health affects 14.7% of the UK workforce. That means that there is a good chance some of your staff might be struggling with a mental health problem.

As an employer, you have a duty of care to your staff to ensure that you are taking care of their health, safety and wellbeing.

Poor mental health can take a terrible toll on your individual staff members, and can have a damaging impact on your company in the process. Reduced productivity, increased staffing costs, harm to reputation, poor morale, high staff turnover and the risk of legal issues arising are just some of the costs to employers of poor mental health in the workplace.

It might be hard to know what to do to support your staff with mental health, it is still such a difficult subject to talk about isn’t it?

First Aid for Mental Health can ease this burden.

First Aid for Mental Health is all about knowing how to have those difficult conversations with a team member or colleague who is struggling. First Aid for Mental Health equips staff to recognise signs and symptoms of mental ill health, to know how to approach a colleage and have a supportive conversation, when to call for emergency help, and how to signpost to professionals who can provide people with the help they need.

Just as regular first aid, First Aid for Mental Health can, in some cases, save someone’s life. Most of the time it will be a pwoerful way to let them know that they are not alone, and that they are cared for.
